Overview
The Horizon Leaders Scholarship funds one-year master’s degrees at partner universities in the United Kingdom for early-career professionals who want to lead change in their home countries. Each year the programme selects around 150 scholars from Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
It’s a strong fit for Somali graduates with at least two years of work experience in public service, health, education, business or civil society. Competition is high, so applicants who can show clear leadership examples and a realistic plan for returning home stand the best chance.

Who can apply
- Citizen of an eligible country, including Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia
- An undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK 2:1 (upper second class)
- At least 2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience
- Apply to three eligible UK master's courses and hold an unconditional offer by 15 July 2027
- English at IELTS 6.5 overall (or equivalent) by the offer deadline
- Commit to returning to your home country for at least 2 years after the award
